Question

Okay, so my mom's boyfriend is awesome for so many reasons (that is why he walked me down the aisle instead of my dad), and over the weekend he volunteered to do a painting for me, free of charge.
He's been painting for years, and can paint anything (except people, he is still working on that) and can do replicas. I showed him a picture of Molly's Scenes and Settings (from Curt's site) and he asked which one I really liked, and I said the School scene. So he had me save the picture to his desktop and is going to paint it for me. YAY! He has also volunteered to do some mini paitings for me. He has one of the golden gate bridege that he did on an index card and it looks so cool.
Now, my question is, how big is the scene when it is opened? How do you think it would look completely flat? Should I have him do two pages and then put a hinge on them?
I have no idea when it wil be done since he has some other projects he is working on, but I'm hoping it will be done by Thanksgiving since he and Mom will be gone for Christmas. But I will be sure to post pics when it's done.
Thanks.
-Jenifer

Editted for spelling.

Thanks for the info ladies. I went ahead and e-mailed my mom the information (they are in SC), and I'll probably talk to her tonight. I'm sure he hasn't started on them yet, and I'm in no hurry.
He does an awesome job so I'm excited to see how ths one turns out. If I can talk him into another one, which scene do you guys suggest?

If he does let you make another one, why don't you try to have him paint you a scene from one of the girls who doesn't have a real scenes and settings?

How lucky you are Jenifer! This sounds like it will be really interesting when it is finished. I'd love to see pictures too--your friend may just be able to start up a side business because I'd love a scene/painting like that for our girls.

I agree with Colleen--what about a scene for a doll who doesn't have one. Since you just got Jess, maybe you could have him paint you some type of amazing jungle or beach scene? Did you end up getting the swing for Jess? If so, how cute would it be to have a background setting for the swing!

I was thinking about this when I got Addy's Scenes and Settings. I think AG really missed the boat by first of all not continuing to produce these, and secondly, by not developing them for the LE girls. Imagine a separate S&S for each of the LE's...how cool would that be?

I have seen some of the Scene books, and I agree that they are wonderful. I especially like how the scenes are folded so you can have two walls of a room, instead of just one.

I have Addy's scenes & settings and Samantha's scenes & setings. They are so neat!!

I wish they still made these for all the historical dolls at least.

I can't really display mine much because the cats think it is a playhouse just for them
Fun, fun.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">I did find some for Kaya on Curt's site and used some pics from Kit's World from AG.com. Th eonly problem is that I have no idea how to stretch out some of the scenes, like Kit's attic.

The Scenes and Settings are just the most wonderful things. If you can find them on ebay for reasonable prices, I highly recommend them. If your Mom's boyfriend can make you some for the dolls that don't have them, you are truly the most lucky collector ever!!!

All I can say is WOW!! [img]graemlins/heart.gif[/img]
